About Daniel G

Biology and English at all levels, 11+ and general mentoring

I am an enthusiastic, patient and passionate tutor with experience teaching one-on-one at a wide range of key stages and abilities. I thoroughly enjoy teaching, and am determined to help my students achieve and excel their targets. A majority of my tutoring experience has been entirely voluntary; teaching is a passion of mine, and I am a dedicated tutor who will go above and beyond. I aim to provide specific, tailored tutoring, and am open to discussing requests targeted at specific curriculum goals, 11+ entrance exams, university interview preparation, study skills and general mentoring.

In terms of qualifications, I am soon to graduate with a BVMSci Veterinary Medicine and Science (July 9th 2020) . I graduated from Reading School (2008-2015), a grammar academy, with 4 A* A-levels (Biology, English Literature, Mathematics, Further Mathematics) and 1 A A-level (Chemistry); I hold 9A* GCSE (including Biology, English Literature and English Language) and 3 A GCSEs (Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Drama).

Whilst at Reading School, I tutored biology to small groups of 3-4 students, covering topics from year 7 through to GCSE, and during my degree I have returned to the school to provide some supplementary lectures to A-level biology students. This includes delivering virtual lectures via Teams. I tutored mathematics one-to-one, teaching GCSE and Additional Mathematics. I am comfortable teaching one-to-one and in group settings, and am practiced tutoring both in person and virtually via text or video chat.

At primary level, I have volunteered as a teaching assistant at two primary schools, helping in classes from Foundation to Year 4. I would be able to support mathematics, literacy and science at primary level.

Additionally, I have five years experience mentoring children with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) from the age of 8 to 16, meaning I am able to support students with ASC both academically and with the development of social independence and confidence. I am currently the Education and Outreach Ambassador for the Animal Neighbours Project. In this role, I help to produce educational resources for schools and engage with students from Foundation through to undergraduate degree level on the topics of conservation, animal behaviour and scientific research. I am able to support students with their learning towards specific curriculum goals, but I am also able to cultivate and support additional specific interests.
